San Antonio, TX (December 27, 2021) – A woman and her young child were both left with moderate injuries following an accident on Friday evening in San Antonio. At around 8:30 p.m., on December 24, calls for assistance came in surrounding a crash on 38th Street.

Reports show that 33-year-old Gerardo Lozano was driving an SUV northbound on 38th Street when he ran a stop sign and crashed into an eastbound pickup truck at the intersection of Amires Place.

The impact of the crash forced the pickup truck across the intersection where it crashed into a two-foot-tall retaining wall.

A pregnant woman and her 2-year-old child were both inside the truck. The two occupants sustained critical injuries and were transported to University Hospital for care.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victims injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Car Accidents in Texas

In Texas, we see our fair share of motor vehicle accidents. In fact, roughly every 2.5 minutes, someone is hurt in a traffic-related incident somewhere in our state. These accidents add up to more than 200,000 people every year. Although the majority of accidents end in minor injuries and disruptions for victims, around 15,000 people are hospitalized with severe injuries that require extensive medical care. Some of the most common injuries sustained by serious crash victims include:

  • Broken bones
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Burn injuries
  • Back injuries
  • Soft tissue (neck) injuries
  • Head injuries

These and other injuries often require immediate medical attention. In some cases, victims have to go through long-term care. Not only are these and other severe injuries debilitating, but the costs of treatment can be significant. After you leave the hospital, you should reach out to a car accident attorney in San Antonio who can help you recover the compensation you need for these and other expenses you face moving forward.
