One of the most common questions individuals have when they first come into my office is "How will my age impact my disability case?" And the answer is, your age can play a huge role in helping you win your case, especially if you're over 50. The reason is that Social Security will apply a different set of rules to your case once you turn 50.
They do this because the government understands that once you're at a certain age it's hard to learn new jobs and get retrained. So when you're younger than 50, a lot of times the issue in the case is "Why can't you do any job out there?" But when you're over 50, many times the key issues that determines whether a person wins or loses is why they can't do their past work. And if you can show and lay out the evidence to the judge that shows "I can't do my past work", many times that's the key and you win your case on that.
So if you're over 50, and you can't do your past work, give me a call or fill out the contact information. I've helped so many people just like you navigate all these issues and lay out their case in a way that makes a huge difference.
