Dustin was raised in a home with four sisters and one brother. His father worked as a teacher and his mother as a dental hygienist. From an early age, Dustin learned the value of hard work. He spent his summers working on a farm and at the age of 9 began delivering newspapers. Growing up, Dustin was actively involved in sports, church youth programs, and Boy Scouts. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout by the age of 14.

Following high school, Dustin spent two years living in Puebla, Mexico, where he learned to speak fluent Spanish and became enchanted with the rich history and culture of Latin America. Dustin carried this passion for Latin American culture with him all the way to college at Brigham Young University, where he studied Comparative Literature with an emphasis on Latin American Literature. The highlights of Dustin’s undergraduate college experience include: Publishing his honors thesis about Mayan literature, living with an indigenous family in Guatemala while learning to speak K’iche, winning the 2009 intramural innertube water-polo championship, graduating with honors and most importantly marrying the love of his life, Sabrina Packard. Dustin and Sabrina have been happily married for over nine years and have three beautiful children.

After graduating with honors, Dustin was accepted into the 2009 corp of Teach for America. With Teach for America, Dustin spent two years in inner-city Houston dedicated to teaching low-income students. He taught English and ESL classes at Edison Middle School. In both of his years as a teacher, Dustin helped each of his seventh- and eighth-grade classes make significant academic gains. This is one of the proudest accomplishments of Dustin’s life.

With a passion to serve ingrained in his being, Dustin started law school at the College of William and Mary in 2011. He excelled and finished his first year in the top 10% of his class. Thanks to his superior performance at William and Mary, Dustin was able to transfer to the University of Texas Law School in 2012 and graduated from UT with his Juris Doctorate degree in 2014. During his time in law school Dustin gained a sound understanding of the law and how it can be used to help individuals without a voice achieve justice.

During law school, Dustin worked at the Packard Law Firm in the Social Security Disability Department. He helped clients at every stage of their case, from the Initial Disability Application to the Hearing. The time Dustin spent working on Social Security Disability cases while he was in law school has proven extremely valuable now as he practices Social Security Disability Law full-time.
